My laundry room is an exit and entrance to my home and using essential oils for cleaning the laundry room will keep it in “tip top shape”.

Essential Oils for Cleaning the Laundry Room Video

This room in my home can be a “catch all” and gets pretty gross.

My 2 dogs sleep and eat in the laundry room.  I do laundry in my laundry room, store all my cleaning product along with my trash can in my laundry room.  I not only need this area organized but, I seasonally need to deep clean it, the rest of the year I just spot clean as needed in order to have a functioning home throughout each season.

List of Natural Ingredients and Essential Oils for Cleaning the Laundry Room

Natural Ingredients for Cleaning the Laundry Room

Vinegar

I love cleaning with vinegar it is a money saver, plus it is all natural and safe for my whole family.  White Vinegar can clean just about everything from soap scum, dishes, drains and a coffee maker. Vinegar inhibits the growth of mold, mildew and most bacteria.  Below I list some many ways I use Vinegar in my home!

I love making my homemade window/glass cleaner by using vinegar.

Baking Soda

Baking Soda is a milder and safer ingredient to clean and will remover odors and clean tough stains.

Essential Oils for Cleaning the Laundry Room

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea Tree Essential Oil is great for disinfecting because it is antiviral, antibacterial and has anti-fungal properties.

Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon Essential Oil smells refreshing and awesome for cleansing the home. For Degreasing and Disinfecting Lemon Essential Oil, I grab often.

Peppermint Essential Oil

I love using peppermint essential oil in the laundry room especially in my garbage area to avoid pest and odors. Also, peppermint essential oil has a nice, fresh smell.

ROSEMARY ESSENTIAL OIL

Rosemary Essential Oil is refreshing and perfect to use in the home. This essential oil cleanses the air and has helped to prevent the flu! I love the fragrant of rosemary essential oil.

Step by Step using Essential Oils for Cleaning the Laundry Room

Cleaning dog kennels using essential oils

Cleaning the Dog Area in the Laundry Room

First, I pull all their bedding out of their kennels and wash them.  I vacuum out the kennels and remove all the dog hair and debris.

I clean the bottom of their crate with vinegar water and tea tree and after all the bedding is dry I place back in kennels.
If there is any stuck on stain I use a magic eraser (these erasers are the bomb, I do not know what I would do without them)!

cleaning dogs dishes with natural ingredients

Dogs Dishes or any animal dishes if stored in the laundry room need to be cleaned and disinfected.

I own 2 dogs and their dishes differently needed a deep cleaning.

Cleaning the Laundry Area with Essential Oils

cleaning wash tub with homemade ingredients

My utility tub can get pretty gross especially because that is where my washer exports all the dirty water and I use it to clean up dirty messes.  I make a paste using baking soda and vinegar and with a scrub brush and rags scrub the whole tub and it does the trick making my tub white, white, white!

disinfecting washer and dryer with essential oil

Now my washer and dryer need a deep clean, I know weird, right? but, it does my washer has a setting for cleaning so I set that and place about 1/2 cup of baking soda into the the washer and 1/2  cup vinegar in the bleach dispenser and let it run.

While my washer is cleaning I clean out the lint trap and wash it using just vinegar water using tea tree essential oil.

The combination of tea tree oil and vinegar will eliminate odors and mildew.

I clean the outside of the washer/dryer using vinegar water and underneath as well!

Cleaning the Garbage Area with Natural Ingredients

use peppermint essential oil in garbage cans

My garbage can is last on the list of deep cleaning, I clean the inside and outside with vinegar water however I add about twenty drops of peppermint essential oil to keep pest away from this area.  I clean around my garbage can and add one of my homemade garbage can bombs to the bottom to keep fresh and pest away as well, if you want to know how to make them; let me know in the comments below!

Organize and Clean Hard Surfaces using Essential Oils

clean and organize laundry room

Clean and Organize shelves, tables, etc.  Get rid of everything in the laundry room that is not serving it purpose!  Dust and wash all hard surfaces to create a clean and cohesive space.

Wash all windows in the laundry room this includes door jams and handles with a multi-purpose cleaner and window cleaner.  I use a DIY essential oil glass cleaner and my homemade disinfecting spray.

Both of my cleaners using essential oils such as lemon and rosemary.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Large Amber Spray Bottle (8- 12 ounce bottle)
