Now more than ever during these last few years we need to practice and execute a healthy lifestyle. Maybe you all have fallen into old ways and habits that did not serve you in the past, lets regroup, reevaluate and get back on track with our health during the fall months.

1.) Add more fruits and vegetables such as grounding foods such as sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, cinnamon and clove into your meals and snacks.
Summer is essential to eat cooling fruits and light greens but in the Fall heartier vegetables and fruit will add warmth to the body.
How about adding a tomato, sweet potatoes and spinach to your eggs in the morning, eat a salad for lunch rich with kale, spinach, Swiss chard.
Eat a small amount of meat and eat more vegetable and fruit for dinner.
Don’t think about dieting but eliminate process foods, sugar, and meat and replace with more fruit and vegetables. Cooking from your home and from scratch is the best way to gain control of what you are putting into your body and feeding it with proper nutrients, minerals and vitamins such as zinc, vitamin C, and antioxidants.
Experience and create meals around the season of fall. Notice the seasonal flavors, textures and colors of your food and remember to chew your food. Finally, try to eat away from technology.
2.) Replace a cup of coffee with green tea. Green tea shows signs of lower stress due to the L-Theanine that is found in green tea. With everything that is going on in today’s world; trying to calm our bodies and minds is essential.
Did I mention, L-Theanine can calm and is a heart booster.

3.) Summer there was much planned away from your home and fall brings more chaos because of summer harvest, back to school and of course routines. Take time during these fall months to slow down an enjoy the season by embracing the virtue of Gratitude. Thanking a person is one way to show gratitude or keeping a journal.
Practice Gratitude often, Thanking God, thanking others can be the healthiest thing. People who show gratitude can lower heart-disease, live a longer life and promote healthy decisions. Just simply thanking God for your food, safety and/or love one’s will promote better eating choices throughout the day.
I love using a Gratitude journal each morning to write one thing I am grateful for today.
At night I write everything I am grateful for that comes to my mind. Reminding yourself of Gratitude is a positive way to check in with yourself and staying on track on what is important.
4.) Time out from technology daily, tons and tons of research shows being connected all day-everyday can stress us out. Connection face-face is essential for your health and building relationships.
Decide what time of day it is tech free, for example I shut down my phone and emails two hours before bed and when I am not working, I go hours without technology. In replace of taking a time out from technology read a book, take a walk with your family/friends, or play a board game, work on a puzzle, cook together or craft with ones that you love and hold dear.
