Every Season I like to give each room in my home a deep clean and refresh to prepare for each season. Today, I am working in the kitchen and in preparation for the fall and upcoming gathering in my home by using essential oils to sanitize and spruce up.
Many over the counter cleaners have harsh chemical and they might get the job done but, old fashion will do the trick. Homemade cleaners will keep your kitchen fresh, clean and save you some money.
There were a few areas in my kitchen that have been neglected this summer and I wrote a list of the five areas that suffered the most and went to work.

Cleaning with Essential Oils in the Kitchen Walls and Ceilings with Lemon Essential Oil
When washing walls and ceilings make sure you dust before washing. Change your cloth often especially when it gets dirty. Be mindful cobwebs can be sticky and stain surfaces. In my kitchen there is often greasy residue from cooking. A film is often presented on my ceiling and walls.
What I have found to be helpful in removing and freshen up my walls is using a degreaser. Lemon Essential Oils is the perfect degreaser and it smells fresh.
In a bucket fill will warm water and a half cup of vinegar. Next, add twenty five drops of lemon essential oil and with a sponge or rag wipe the ceiling and walls. Start from the top and work your way down!
Cleaning with Essential Oils in the Kitchen Fixtures and Outlets
Use a damp cloth to clean ceiling fans and fixtures. Use a fresh bucket of warm water, vinegar and lemon essential oil to clean fixtures and ceiling fans. When cleaning your fixtures make sure they are not hot when losing screws and wiping down. I clean all the globes, lens or plastic parts that are removable in warm water and then dry before assembling.
Make sure fans, light fixtures, etc. are turned off when you clean them.
Cleaning Kitchen Windows with Essential Oils
A clean window welcomes a fresh breeze! A cloudy day is best to clean your windows. I like to clean my windows once in the spring and then before the cold breaks through the air.
Start by cleaning windows by vacuuming any debris. Use a razor blade for stubborn residue on windows. If you cannot get in the cracks of your windows I like to use a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol to clean crervices, Also, clean the window with vertical strokes on one side and horizontal on the other side.
How to Make Lemon Essential Oil Glass Cleaner
I This Lemon Essential Oil Glass Cleaner can be used on mirrors, windows and even car windshields.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Large bowl for mixing, or add to spray bottle
- Amber Glass Bottle (6-12 ounces and has a spray nozzle)
- 2-3 cups of water (depending on size of spray bottle)
- 1 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol
- ¼ cups of white distilled vinegar
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil
- Funnel
First, add all the above ingredients to a mixing bowl, mix well with a spoon. Second, Pour all mixed ingredients through a funnel into your spray bottle.
Next, screw on the nozzle and shake the ingredients in the bottle until blended.
Use on mirrors, windows and car windshields.
ALL NATURAL Kitchen FLOOR CLEANER USING ESSENTIAL OILS
This cleaning solution for scrubbing and mopping the floors is easy, safe and nontoxic. You can use this solution on wood, linoleum or tile. I added lemon essential oil to my floor solution because smells amazing, antibacterial and kills bad odors.
Vinegar inhibits the growth of mold, mildew and most bacteria; perfect ingredients because my floors are exposed to kids and animals.
What you will need:
- A bucket of warm water
- ½ white vinegar
- 8-10 drops of your favorite citrus essential oil (I used Orange Essential Oil)
- Eight drops of Rosemary Essential Oil
Mix all together water, vinegar, citrus oils and rosemary and clean with a mop or cloth. Repeat if necessary!
Cleaning Kitchen Stove and Oven with Essential Oils
Oh, how I love this spot in my kitchen -the stove! I use my stove so much and it get messy, messy, messy but, Don’t Fear, I am here with a solution!
Clean your burners and rings with a mix of vinegar and cream of tartar. I take a green scrubby and add the mixture onto it and work around the stove. It Work’s try it!
How to make a DIY Oven Cleaner for the Kitchen
This spray is non toxic and way better than any spray out there. Using a few essential oils are not harmful and will cleanse the air rather than mask odors.
Ingredients:
- 10 drops lemon essential oil
- 10 drops tea tree essential oil
- 1 cup warm filtered water
- 3 tablespoon of baking soda
- 1 tablespoon castile soap
- glass spray bottle
- funnel
Add all the ingredients above and place in a spray bottle using a funnel. Shake the spray bottle and spray all over the inside of your oven. Let the solution set for twenty minutes and then wipe clean with a cloth or sponge.
Deep Clean Kitchen Wood Cabinet with Orange Essential Oil
The first thing that greets anyone that enters your home is the smell of your home. The smell of your home is the aroma that makes impressions for years to come to everyone that enters and leaves. This homemade wood polish will not only clean but, will restore your wood and smell amazing just by using four ingredients such as olive oil, vinegar, orange essential oil and lemon essential oil.
In the kitchen we are going to wash Exterior of the Cabinets to kill viruses and bacteria that has built up with a anti-bacterial soap or spray.
Ingredients
- Funnel
- Measuring Spoons
- Glass Spray Bottle
- Two tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of vinegar
- 10 drops of orange essential oil
- 8 drops of lemon essential oil
First, take your funnel and place on top of glass bottle. Using your measuring spoons measure out olive oil and vinegar and place in glass bottle. Next, add your lemon and orange essential oil. Give your bottle a good shake and spray all over your wood cabinets.
