WHY A WREATH?
There is something about a fresh, sunny, crisp fall day. Fall is filled with new beginnings of a safe school year and cozy evenings. Crisp days filled with moody undertones inspires me to create and explore everything the season has to offer.
Today, we are going to tackle one of the easiest ways to get creative and spruce up our front door. We are going to make a gorgeous fall wreath with simple items making it easy for any person to create.
I evaluated what I had around my home to create my cheap fall wreath with my favorite natural elements such as mums, eucalyptus and a wheat.
You can use whatever you like real or faux.
The reason I narrow down my picks to these fall items because they “scream” cozy with the beautiful colors and textures.
Earth Tone Mums and Eucalyptus, look great all fall and budget farmhouse option that you can find at our local Dollar Tree.
I scoured my local Dollar Tree for supplies to decorate this wreath and all it’s simplicity which include a burlap bow.
My local Dollar Tree carried many supplies however you can use a few items that were laying around your house.
Hanging a wreath is a great way to add life to any room and using beautiful colors such as green and orange can update a space on a dime this fall!
I bought the grapevine wreath from Dollar Tree but, there are large one’s at Walmart for five dollars, decorate and filled it with eucalyptus and fall florals and it made me feel like a champion with a simple burlap bow.
Note, you can find many grapevine wreaths very inexpensive at second hand stores and garage sales; keep your eyes open!
WHAT DOES A CHEAP FALL WREATH ON A DOOR SYMBOLIZE?
With a few store bought emblements you can easily take a simple wreath to a custom creation. Traditionally, a wreath is circular and filled with greenery and florals.
Did you know hanging wreaths during ancient Greek and Roman times symbolized power and victory.
Hanging a wreath on a front door can mean many different things through the year. At Christmas Time a wreath can mean the birth of Jesus for Christians. In the Spring Time a Wreath on the Door can mean “Welcome”. Sometimes a wreath on a front door can mean a family is in mourning.
One thing for certain, no matter the meaning of why; we hang a wreath on our front doors each season as a trend that I love and look forward to creating each season especially during the fall season.
HOW TO MAKE A CHEAP FALL WREATH USING EUCALYPTUS
Eucalyptus is strong, intense, powerful and does it job of clearing out any bad aroma. This bright green plant grows very fast and aromatic. Just like lavender there are many varieties of eucalyptus; just decide on the one you like. Gunnii Eucalyptus is what I will use for my natural wreath because it grows fast and dense.
This beautiful, green plant really brightens up any wreath this spring. There is a variety of different eucalyptus and varies shades of green. This green plants is an annual and I love adding it around my homestead.
Finally, Eucalyptus helps gain mental clarity, boost your mood and smells amazing.
WHY CHRYSANTHEMUMS aka MUMS WHEN MAKE A FALL WREATH
Chrysanthemums are the flower of the fall season. These beautiful flowers known as mum grow in a variety of colors and in mounds. There was never a doubt than to include chrysanthemums in my fall wreath creations.
SUPPLIES I USE TO MAKE A CHEAP FALL WREATH
Most of my supplies listed below you can get a many retailors such as Walmart. I have linked similar supplies to give you an idea and example of what I used for construct my spring wreath.
- Grapevine Wreath
- Floral Wire
- Hot Glue
- Scissors or Wire Cutters
- Burlap Bow (your choice of color or style)
- Six to Ten varies Sprigs in Fall Colors and Flowers such as mums
- Several Eucalyptus Sprigs ( any greenery will do )
How to Make a Cheap Fall Wreath Tutorial
I am super pumped about this cheap fall wreath. This Fall Wreath is affordable and easy to do. Creating this cheap fall wreath was created with many varieties of floral sprigs from the Dollar Tree and around my home. Using a few supplies this wreath turned out stunning and perfect for fall. One wreath is inspired by “pumpkin spice” and “falling leaves”!
Tying the burlap bow from Dollar Tree to hold everything in place. Use some floral wire or hot gun to secure everything in place. This wreath came out beautiful, perfect for spring and anyone can create in one afternoon.
What I bought at the Dollar Tree:
- a grapevine wreath
- burlap ribbon is desired color
- a fall leaf sprigs (a couple of white, creams and other fall color flower sprigs)
- hook to hang the wreath (Command hook or Small Nail)
- glue gun
- floral wire
- wire cutters
- scissors
First, take your wire cutters and cut your desire leaves and flower sprigs that you would like to use on your wreath.
Next, take your newly cut sprigs and play around with how you would like to look on your wreath. Before gluing or securing anything down position sprigs to create where you like them to be placed.
This is the part in wreath design that is time consuming because you have to place and replace until you like it. I am picking so this is often longer than normal.
I decide to have my sprigs off center because it gave an interesting style. You can add, delete or place your florals anywhere you like the possibilities are endless.
Now hot glue your sprigs to the wreath or secure with floral wire. Take your burlap ribbon in desire color and cut your preferred length with your scissors, wrap around your wreath and glue in place and glue at top.
Finally, secure your hook onto the location of choice such as a door, window or mirror.
