I have many interests in the kitchen from persevering to baking; and my kitchen needs to be pretty and functional.
In my kitchen, I love to cook, eat, write, plan and gather. My kitchen is literally in the center of my home; and as you can imagine everyone who enters gathers in this space.
This week after being home; for winter break I decided I need to change and spruce up some areas of my house. I spend a lot of time in my kitchen, and it needed a funtional space.
Recently I built two floating shelves and now it is time to style. I did not want to style my floating shelves with items that really do not have a purpose. Careful planning I manage to make the floating shelves pretty and functional.
Items to Consider when Decorating Floating Shelves
Pitchers or Vases, I love white pitchers in many shapes and size and use for many things. My pitcher’s collection is fun to decorate because I can add festive berries, cedar and even eucalyptus leaves. Blue and White Ironstone are items I am always looking for at Thrift Stores. Pitcher can be used for beverages or arranging a pretty cut of flowers from my gardens.
Eucalyptus is gorgeous by itself and just a timeless piece of greenery that goes with ever season. If you buy or grow fresh eucalyptus dries out nicely. I love adding this greenery around my home all season.
Fresh Plants or Herbs can be place on the floating shelves to give a pop of color and a fresh component, if you can keep them alive! Plants and herb have many purposes from cleaning the air to spicing up dinner.
Blue and White Ironstone I keep things simple with all my white and blue ironstone and added eucalyptus for a pop of green. Adding my favorite teacup and saucer makes afternoon tea a delight.
Sourdough Supplies such as a lame or Duster make pretty decor on floating shelves and make sourdough baking a bit easier because most used items are displayed and not hidden.
Wooden Cutting Boards are a rare find but when you do I use for not just cutting on but for serving food. Cutting Boards displayed nicely on floating shelves make life convenient.
