Well, it is Winter here and with that it seems our house always gets all types of germs from stomach viruses to bacterial infections. All of us in this house have now gotten some type of germ, thank God we are all better now and, on the mends, but I need to do a deep clean naturally to keep us from being sick again.
I am going to take you step by step through the house and focus on key areas where germs could be hiding.
Also, we are going to disinfect everything with natural cleaners and products including essential oils.
Natural Cleaning your House after Being Sick in the Bathroom
The bathroom is the most efficient space and use often for enjoy a bath to brushing your teeth. Germs are literally everywhere in a bathroom from sinks, toilets to soap dispensers. Area to focus on are listed below and should not be forgotten
- Scrub toilets inside and out.
- Wash and disinfect all surfaces including handles and doorknobs; I use a dry cloth and rubbing alcohol to clean these surfaces.
- Replace all toothbrush or toothbrush heads or soak in peroxide.
- Clean all soap dispensers and handles and faucets.
- Change out all bath towels, hand towels and wash clothes.
Cleaning the House after Being Sick in the Living Room
The living room is a place for gathering and everyone uses this room. In the living room do not forget every touch point, lines and surface when disinfecting and killing germs.
- Wipe down all remotes and controllers.
- Clean all electronics including I-Pads, phones, computers with a clothing and rubbing alcohol.
- Clean all throw blankets and pillows by throwing in the washing machine if you can’t wash spray with Thieves Disinfecting Spray.

Bedrooms are important to really clean after being sick because it is a place where we rest and mostly likely are resting while sick.
Keep in mind and change all sheets, blankets and bedding. I wash everything in Hot water when illness hits our home.
Finally, as all the rooms remember to wipe down all surfaces, doorknobs, light switches.
Natural Cleaning the Kitchen after Being Sick
The center of the home is the kitchen it is a space where there is talking, eating and drinking. The Kitchen along with the bathroom take the longest to disinfect naturally. Here is the main spots you should not forget in the Kitchen when cleaning after illness.
- Clean out the sink and faucets.
- Clean out the refrigerator and outside of it.
- Wipe microwave inside and out with a disinfecting spray.
Finally, if the weather allows open the windows to get a nice breeze and for the germs to exit!
What Essential Oils to Use for Disinfecting
Start with the basics and most popular essentials oils for disinfecting your home. Essential oils are safe and very effective for tacking your homes germs after being sick.

From countertops, sinks, faucets and everything else get everything done without harmful ingredients but, creating these simple recipes to kill the germs.
LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL GLASS CLEANER
This Lemon Essential Oil Glass Cleaner can be used on mirrors, windows and even car windshields.
What you will need:
- Large bowl for mixing, or add to spray bottle
- Amber Glass Bottle (6-12 ounces and has a spray nozzle)
- 2-3 cups of water (depending on size of spray bottle)
- 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol
- ¼ cups of white distilled vinegar
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil
- Funnel
First, add all the above ingredients to a mixing bowl, mix well with a spoon. Second, Pour all mixed ingredients through a funnel into your spray bottle.
HOMEMADE NATURAL SURFACE SPRAY
INGREDIENTS
- White Distilled Vinegar
- Filtered Water
- 10-20 drops of your preferred essential oil; I use pine essential oil
First, fill a spray bottle with half water and then white distilled vinegar.
Second, add your choice of essential oil.
Lastly, give the bottle a good shake and spray on a surface you are trying to disinfect and clean.
EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL LEATHER CLEANER
Eucalyptus Essential Oil smells fresh and is great to use in your home. This oil is perfect for cleaning and disinfecting. To help with respiratory infections this essential oil does the trick. If Fresh and Clearing, is what you are looking for eucalyptus essential oil does a good job.
INGREDIENTS
- Two tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of vinegar
- 15 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- Funnel
- Measuring Spoons
- Glass Spray Bottle
First, take your funnel and place on top of glass bottle. Using your measuring spoons measure out olive oil and vinegar and place in glass bottle. Next, add fifteen drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Give your bottle a good shake, label and spray all over a cloth never onto the leather. Rub in a circular motion to clean and buff.
How to your Fridge/Freezer Naturally
I love essential oils, they are non toxic, smell great and they clear all bad and upleasant aroma’s and do not mask them. In my fridge/freeze I clean it only with only natural ingredients why would I clean them with toxic ingredients this is my food is stored!
How essential oils work is they wrap themselves around all the bad molecules and deodorizing them leaving a fresh atmosphere.
I love using citrus oils such as lemon to clean, they are very uplifting and smell AMAZING!
When you clean your fridge/freeze in your rinse water (1 gallon) add 20-25 drops of citrus oil and wipe down all the surfaces. Using the oil will help to deodorize your fridge/freezer!
