Mother’s Day Mothering has for me become a need to respond and protect my children. This year why not make Mother’s Day special by putting together a beautiful gift basket filled with homemade beauty products.

Mother’s are always taking care of others by placing band-aids on scrap knees, preparing meals, tucking children into bed or reassure us that there are better days to come. Mother’s never take care of themselves emotionally, physiologically or physically. After long days of taking care of others let’s treat a mother to a pretty self care gift basket.

Why a Homemade Mother’s Day Gift Basket

Creative gift giving is a skill that takes practice. Start small and eventually, it will evolve into more complex, creative gifts. Homemade gift giving forces you to think outside the box and can be a bit more thrifty.

If you are a mom, you already know that homemade gifts are the best. From the hand paint pictures, to the clay flower pots what better way to celebrate a mother than a homemade Mother’s Day gift basket filled with many self care goodies. This homemade gift basket will show a mother how grateful and special she truly is.

Vanilla, Lavender Foaming Body Wash

foaming homemade body wash with lavender and vanilla

I love beauty products but, many on the market are filled with toxic ingredients such as parabens, harmful fragrances and artificial dyes.   When I wash my body for the day’s germs and toxins I do not want to put any soap or body wash on my body that can be harmful to my skin.  This DIY body wash is very easy and can make a great gift that will pamper someone in a luxurious, no harmful way.  Using simple ingredients you can make affordable gifts for a loved one or yourself and fill good about .

  • 1 cup of almond oil (any carrier oil will work fine)
  • 1/2 cup glycerin
  • 1/2 cup of Bronner’s Castile Soap in unscented or Lavender (you can using another liquid mild soap if you choose)
  • 30 drops of vanilla essential oil
  • 20 drops of lavender essential oil
  • Empty 8 ounce bottle (I found some at Dollar Tree that will work nicely)
  • large bowl
  • large spoon for mixing
  • wood tags for the label

First, in a large bowl mix almond oil, glycerin and Bronner’s Castile Soap. Next, pour into a clean, dry bottle. There is are some great bottles you can purchase from the Dollar Store or Amazon.  Vanilla and Lavender Essential Oil smell amazing and glycerin will hydrate and moisturize your skin. To use this body wash, shake well to re blend all the ingredients.  You may either pour 1/4 cup into a hot bath or apply a quarter size to a loofah and massage into your skin. Rinse Well!

Natural Essential Oil Anti-Aging Facial Toner

Toner stimulate your skin and remove any residue after cleansing the skin. Toner’s are typically used after cleansing the skin. Frankincense and Geranium Essential Oils provide balance, smell great and regenerate the skin.

  • 1/2 cup of filtered water

  • 10 drops of frankincense essential oil
  • Funnel
  • 8 ounces glass bottle
  • Label

In a eight ounce glass bottle; take a funnel and add your witch hazel and filtered water. Next, add your Geranium and Frankincense essential oils drop by drop. I love using Geranium Essential Oil because it balances the hormones. Geranium smells wonderful and brings out a radiant glow in dry, dull skin. Frankincense Essential Oil soothes inflamed skin and regenerates cells. Shake all your ingredients and label the outside of the bottle. To use pour a nickel size onto a cotton pad or ball and apply to face and neck. Finally, store in a cool, dark place for up to eight months.
